Part 2 of patient groups’ perspectives of pharma includes:  

—Patient groups’ opinions on the performance of the top-15 pharmaceutical companies during 2009: their ability to understand patient needs; their ability to handle relationships with patient groups; their levels of trustworthiness; and their ability to supply patient information.

—Patient groups’ opinions on pharma’s strategies to help poorer patients in 2009.

—Patient groups’ opinions on companies’ strategies to support patient groups.

 Rankings for ability to understand patients’ needs, 2009: Joint top companies—Novartis, Pfizer, and Roche. Most improved company since 2008—Roche. Largest fall in the rankings since 2008—Merck.

Rankings for ability to handle relationships with patient groups, 2009: Top company—Sanofi-Aventis. Most improved company since 2008—also Sanofi-Aventis. Largest fall in the rankings since 2008—Merck.

Rankings for levels of trustworthiness, 2009: Top company—Novartis. Most improved company since 2008—Roche. Largest falls in the rankings since 2008—Johnson & Johnson and Merck.

Rankings for ability to supply patient information, 2009: Top company—AstraZeneca. Most improved companies since 2008—AstraZeneca and Sanofi-Aventis. Largest fall in the rankings since 2008—Merck.
